Frank McDaniel Memorial Firework Show

10:00pm | Main Stage

Welcome to The Frank McDaniel Memorial Fireworks Show!

Our fireworks show, which delights people of all ages every Aquafest Saturday night, has been sponsored by a group of “angel sponsors” since 2019. These “angel sponsors” cherished their friendship with Frank McDaniel and wanted the fireworks show be dedicated to his memory.

For those in Lake Stevens who knew Frank McDaniel, the following will prompt memories and make you smile; for those who did not have the opportunity to know Frank, your heart will be gladdened to know that he lived.

Frank McDaniel was a lifelong resident of Lake Stevens. He was a husband, father of 2 boys and a father-figure to many more through coaching soccer for many years. Frank loved his family and loved his community. He was a member of Lion’s Club and a ferocious fund-raiser for their causes. And, Frank was involved with Aquafest for as long as people can remember.

He worked since the age of 12, saved his money and used it to help people; in fact, he regularly paid for medications for elderly friends who couldn’t afford them. His first job was working with Charlie at Crosson’s Automotive and later owned the mini-mart right here in downtown Lake Stevens. Everyday Frank would walk with a “wad” of cash from the mini-mart to the bank that used to be in Jay’s Market center and then stopped in at the post office. You could almost set your clock by his routine.

Frank had a contagious laugh - and you ended up laughing too - even if you didn’t know why. It was amazing how he always focused on the positive and saw the best in people.

In 2018, Frank McDaniel succumbed to colon cancer. At his memorial, the Mayor and Police Chief were in attendance, but so were former alcoholics and drug addicts whose lives were changed because Frank listened and loved them with an open heart.

Frank McDaniel was a beautiful man and even in his final days he was jovial and funny and taught us how to live.

So with grateful hearts, let us remember Frank’s love, spirit of community and the exuberant joy that lit up his eyes.

Now you know why some “angel sponsors” in our community have agreed to support this wonderful spectacle that lights up the night and, like Frank, makes us smile.

Please enjoy the Frank McDaniel Memorial Fireworks!
